Meet Eric P. Zatman

Meet Eric P. Zatman

Eric Zatman is a native Washingtonian, having grown up in Chevy Chase, MD, close to what is now Ohr Kodesh, the former home of the Montgomery County Jewish Community Center. As a child, Eric was surrounded by the beautiful music of both his mother Jeanne and brother Andy who were talented, award-winning pianists. This early exposure to music has influenced him to listen to all different types of music and regularly attend musical and theater performances.

After Eric received a degree in Political Science from UCLA, he embarked on a rewarding 33-year career with the Government where he served as a contract proposal review administrator with the National Institutes of Health. An avid tennis enthusiast before and now in retirement, Eric is a certified tennis instructor registered with the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) and teaches at the Pauline Betz Addie Tennis Center at Cabin John in Bethesda. Eric also enjoys competing, and is a member of the Montgomery County, MD Senior 65 Champion Tennis Team that has advanced to the March, 2015 national tournament to be held in Surprise, AZ. He also volunteers as a Special Olympics coach and has taught tennis to wounded veterans returning from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Eric's ties to the Hebrew Home stem from his mother, Jeanne, who was a volunteer at the Jewish Community Center for many years, and resided at the Hebrew Home for two and a half years. Over the course of these years, Eric came to visit his mother almost every day and is very grateful for the care she received. Because of this, Eric has named the Hebrew Home as a beneficiary of his estate, and is a member of the Builders of the Future Society at Charles E. Smith Life Communities.
